Bell Giga Hub 2.0 and a UniFi Dream Machine: use PPPoE, not Advanced DMZ
· 10 min read
If you have Bell fibre through a Giga Hub 2.0 and run your own UniFi gateway behind it, this is the configuration that works: a PPPoE session on the UDM's WAN, and nothing on the hub. The UDM gets a public address of its own, port forwards work, and the WAN stays up. Advanced DMZ, the hub setting Bell offers for this, gets you a public address and then drops the link for a few seconds every ten minutes. The steps come first; the measurements and the reasons are at the end.
